I pride myself on being a lazy engineer, and trying to automate my day to day work as much as possible. In this talk, I’ll give a brief overview of the history of automation, before going on a math based explanation on how to associate a dollar amount to the value of laziness and how it can apply to your organization. Finally, I’ll give a few real world examples of techniques/solutions I have found useful. At the end of the discussion my goal is to everyone have an appreciation of automating the every day annoyances and learn a few things along the way.
